According to the updated Code of Practice on Reproductive Technology and Embryo Research (effective 1 December 2025), the previous 10-year storage limit has been abolished. Currently, storage is renewed in two-year increments. Before each expiry date, you must provide the centre with written notice to confirm whether you wish to extend or terminate the storage of your gametes or embryos.

No. Eggs, sperm, and embryos maintain the biological quality they had at the time of freezing. Because egg quality tends to decline significantly with age, freezing eggs at a younger age effectively "locks in" their current quality. Research shows that the duration of storage does not negatively impact the future quality of the embryos.
