Vitrification of Eggs/Embryos and Storage

Vitrification is a rapid freezing technique by which eggs / embryos are preserved in a resting state and kept in liquid nitrogen at -196 ℃ for long term storage.

  1. Women who are at risk of losing their fertility potential due to aging or some medical conditions (e.g. surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy for cancer patients) may consider prior storage of their eggs / embryos to preserve their fertility potential.
  2. Surplus embryos of good quality from an IVF treatment cycle can be frozen and stored for future transfer.
  3. Uterine, general physical health condition or any other reason making transfer of fresh embryos unfavorable during the treatment cycle.
